Municipal Enforcement

In Newfoundland and Labrador, Community Constables, appointed under the Municipalities Act, 1999, play a multifaceted role in the Town of Happy Valley-Goose Bay:

  • They handle various matters, including bylaws and regulations, and collaborate with provincial agencies and the RCMP.
  • These constables are involved in community patrols, event support, and safety efforts, working closely with the Protective Services Department and local organizations.
  • The town also has a dedicated Animal Control Officer who collaborates with the Community Constable, local animal welfare groups, and veterinarians.
  • Community Constables are active in community engagement, offering educational programs.
  • For criminal situations, they immediately contact the RCMP, ensuring proper handling by the appropriate authority.

For community-related concerns, residents are encouraged to contact the complaint line at 709-896-3322 for issues like animal control, noise complaints, property concerns, and more.
