Snowmobile Safety Regulations

Happy Valley-Goose Bay is dedicated to promoting snowmobile safety and adherence to Municipal Snow Vehicle Regulations.

Common violations involve operating snowmobiles on municipal roads, speeding beyond 15 km/h for trail access, and crossing highways with less than 100 meters of visibility.

Violations can incur fines:

  • First Offense: $100 – $500
  • Second Offense: $500 – $1,000

Safety is our priority. Report violations to the Happy Valley-Goose Bay RCMP (709-896-3383) or Municipal Enforcement (709-896-3322) for:

  • Roadway use
  • Lack of care
  • No consideration for others
  • Excessive noise due to modifications

Remember:

  • Register and insure your snowmobile
  • Ensure proper equipment and muffler
  • Follow designated operation areas
  • Respect age restrictions (13 years and older)

Get familiar with our Municipal Snow Vehicle Regulations below or at Town Hall (Mon-Fri, 9 AM – 4 PM). For additional guidance, review the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador regulations, including noise-reducing equipment.

We also recommend obtaining a Trail Pass from the Grand River Snowmobile Club for an enjoyable and safe experience.

We appreciate your help in maintaining safe public areas and enhancing awareness of snowmobile safety.
