Our community has schools in both the Newfoundland and Labrador English School District and the Conseil Scolaire Francophone. There are also two post-secondary institutions in our town which provide quality education and training.

The Happy Valley campus of College of the North Atlantic accommodates approximately 200 full-time students per semester, with another 50 registered part-time. Upwards of 800 students participate in Continuing Education courses. The campus offers 12 certificate and diploma courses, as well as first year university courses. Other programs are customized with industry, Aboriginal and community groups, with an emphasis on flexibility and responsiveness to the marketplace.

The Labrador Institute is a division of Memorial University located in Labrador. The Institute was established by Memorial University in 1979 to stimulate, coordinate, and support major University projects and programs and to expand the Labrador knowledge base. These activities facilitate the educational aspirations, research requirements, and the socio-cultural well-being of the people of Labrador. The LI has offices in Goose Bay and Labrador City as well as a research centre in North West River, and employs several full-time researchers, faculty members and administrative and support staff. Research interests include the natural and social sciences, humanities and education. LI offers some live courses and facilitates access to distance learning, and has a strong reputation for community engagement www.mun.ca/labradorinstitute

All post-secondary institutes have demonstrated the desire to work with local industry to meet their training needs. The range of training facilities available also underlines the ability of the Town to respond quickly to the needs of new employers who come to our community.
