Employment Opportunity: Fire Protection Officer – Protective Services Department (Permanent, Full-Time)

The Town of Happy Valley-Goose Bay seeks to employ a full-time Fire Protection Officer (FPO). Reporting to the Director of Protective Services, the FPO will support administrative and operational programs, conduct fire and life safety inspections, carry out duties of a firefighter, as well as work with other fire officers and external agencies.
As the successful applicant, you must possess the following:
- Minimum of a Grade Twelve (12) Diploma or equivalent.
- Valid First Aid/CPR/AED.
- Valid Class 5 and 9 Driver’s License.
- NFPA 1001 Firefighter Certification Levels 1 and 2.
- NFPA 1041 Fire Instructor Certification Level 1.
- NFPA 1031 Fire Inspector Certification Level 1.
- NFPA 1021 Fire Officer Certification Level 1 would be an asset.
- Provide an RCMP Certificate of Conduct, Vulnerable Sector Check, Provincial Court Check and satisfactory Drivers Abstract
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
Salary and benefits as per CUPE Local 2019 collective agreement with the Town of Happy Valley-Goose Bay. The hourly pay rate is $38.17
