Public Transit Service Launch Update #9

Following the launch of the full On-Demand bus service, the Town of Happy Valley-Goose Bay would like to thank the residents for their patience and further clarify how to access the Use Transit Platform and the Transit Card.
Note that:
- The Use Transit Platform and Transit Cards are for fares.
- The On-Demand App is for booking rides. Access to an email account is required for both the platform and the App.

After you register on the platform, please DO NOT select any Fare Products or load a Custom Amount until you pick up an activated Transit Card from the Town Hall front desk during office hours (see the picture below for reference).
Transit Cards must be activated and linked to your Use Transit account at the Town Hall for any loaded balance to reflect.
After the first activation at the Town Hall, Transit Card holders can add money to their card balance using Debit or Credit cards.
If you are interested in a bulk purchase of Transit Cards, please contact the Town with information on the number of cards and the amount to be loaded on the cards. Note that a 48-hour notice is required to allow us time to activate and load the cards before pick-up.

BOOK YOUR RIDE
- To request a ride, you need the On-Demand app available on Google Play (Androids) and the App Store (iPhones and iPads). See previous update (PSA #8) for more details 👉 HERE
- Residents with limited access to technology – internet, smartphones, or an email address – can visit or call the Town Hall during office hours for assistance with booking rides.
- Fares are $3 per ride. There is no cost for riders under 5 years old who are accompanied by a paying rider.
- Only Transit Cards and Cash are ACCEPTED on the bus; Debit or Credit cards are NOT ACCEPTED on the bus.
- The driver will not be able to provide change for cash-paying customers. Riders are advised to pay with the exact amount when possible.
