Public Transit Service Launch Update #7
RELEASED August 8, 2025
The Town of Happy Valley-Goose Bay would like to update residents with more information about the bus service for the week starting Monday, August 11th. Please take note of the points below:
Fares and Transit Cards
- Fares will be $3 per ride. There is no cost for riders under 5 years old who are accompanied by a paying rider.
- Pre-loaded Transit Cards for $15 and $21 will be available for purchase at the front desk at the Town Office from Monday, August 11th.
- The driver will not be able to provide change for cash-paying customers. Riders are advised to pay with the exact amount when possible.
- Only Transit Cards and Cash are ACCEPTED on the bus; Debit or Credit cards are NOT ACCEPTED on the bus.
- Options for buying cards not Pre-loaded will be available from Wednesday, 13th August. Riders can now register on the UseTransit Platform ahead of purchasing the Transit Cards at the Town Office. Cards can be reloaded using debit or credit cards once they have an account is created. This non-preloaded option allows users to load cards with the desired amount.
See the link👉HERE for step step-by-step guide on how to register on the UseTransit Platform.
If you are interested in a bulk purchase of Transit Cards, please contact the Town with information on the number of cards and the dollar amount to be loaded on the cards. Note that a 24-hour notice is required to allow us time to activate and load the cards before pick-up.
An announcement for how to access the on-demand platform for users to schedule rides will be made next week. Instructions for downloading the App and setting up an account will be available on the Town’s website.
Other Things to Note:
In the case where the bus is full and unable to pick up more passengers, there will be a sign on the front of the bus to indicate that, and the bus will continue on the designated route.
If you miss the bus or the bus is full at your stop, you will have to wait for the next time the bus passes by; hence, it is advised that riders plan accordingly. The Town accepts no responsibility for missed appointments or late arrivals to your destination.
