Jackie Compton Hobbs

Jackie Compton Hobbs grew up in Happy Valley-Goose Bay.
Jackie has been a tireless advocate and volunteer for over 35 years in Happy Valley-Goose Bay. She is involved with Housing & Homelessness, Mokami Status of Women Council, Canadian Cancer Society, Community advisory councils. She continues to serve on several provincial, local boards and organizations. Through her volunteer dedication she has received several awards. Wayne Earle Memorial Award, Queen Jubilee 11 award, Labrador Distinction Award, Public Service Award of Excellence.
Jackie was first elected to serve as a member of the Happy Valley-Goose Bay Council in 2013 and re-elected in 2017. She was re-elected to Council during a by-election on December 19, 2022, and is a committee member of the Town’s Protective Services Committee and the Community Development and Planning Committee. Previously Jackie was Chair of Community Services and Recreation for 8 years. As a result of her and other councillors advocating the town of HVGB has seen many upgrades to Kinsmen Park (including a brand-new Splash pad), state of the art Central Labrador YMCA, all playgrounds were updated, Randy Scott Rose Memorial Skateboard Park, new turf floor in the arena, basketball courts, upgrades to Mealy Mountain Sportplex and much more.
She looks forward to continuing to work for the constituents of Happy Valley-Goose Bay.
