Water & Sewer Foreperson-
(Full-Time Permanent Position)
The Town of Happy Valley-Goose Bay is currently accepting applications for a Water & Sewer Foreperson. This is a full-time permanent position within the Department of Water & Sewer and reports to the Superintendent of this department. The Foreperson’s primary responsibility is overseeing personnel in the department and ensuring all water & sewer facilities, equipment, tools, and buildings are kept in good operating condition. They will be responsible for assigning work, dealing with emergencies such as breaks, stoppages etc., and are responsible for engineering operations at all Town facilities, including but not limited to, the Water Treatment Plant, Wastewater Treatment Plant, Lift Stations, Pumping reservoirs, Booster stations and P.R.V. stations.
QUALIFICATIONS
As the successful applicant, you will possess the following:
• High School Graduation Certificate
• Graduation from a recognized, accredited, post secondary institution with a diploma in plumbing, pipefitting, millwright, mechanical, electrical, environmental, power engineering or instrumentation
• Journeyperson certificate in a related field of plumbing, pipefitting, millwright, or electrical
• Completion of Wastewater Distribution II Certificate
• Completion of Wastewater Collection II Certificate
• Completion of Level II Water Treatment Plant Operator Certificate
• Completion of Level II Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator Certificate
• A minimum of five (5) years’ experience in the water treatment field
• Working knowledge of computers for computerized equipment operations
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Current driver’s licence, Class 5
• Ability to provide a current clean driver’s abstract, certificate of conduct from local policing authority and a provincial court check.

The Town of Happy Valley-Goose Bay’s Water Treatment and Wastewater Treatment Plant is currently considered a Class II Facility. Applicants with a combination of Class I & II Water Treatment and Class I & Class II Wastewater Treatment certificates may be considered if the applicant is actively pursuing the proper certification for advancement to Class II Water Treatment and Class II Wastewater certification and is expected to complete it within one (1) year of appointment.
Salary and benefits based on a 40 hours per week working schedule as per CUPE Local 2019 collective agreement with the Town of Happy Valley-Goose Bay. The current rate of pay is $41.11 per hour.

-Corporate Services Coordinator
(Permanent Full-Time)

We are seeking an experienced, highly-organized, energetic person to fill the newly created role of Corporate Services Coordinator.
Reporting to the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO), the Corporate Services Coordinator is a management-level position that will be the main point of contact for administrative and organization-specific issues, tasks and procedures involving management and employees. By performing a wide range of intricate and confidential organizational issues-management, analytical tasks, and handling special projects, this role supports the CAO and department heads in human resources matters, project and records management, and administrative services. This role will be responsible for keeping the General Government department running smoothly, which includes preparing letters, forms, documents, reports, and other paperwork, keeping up with department filing systems (both electronic and physical), maintaining managers’ employment records, and interacting with employees to offer high-quality personnel support. This position involves a high degree of confidentiality regarding matters respecting labour relations where discretion and emotional intelligence will be demonstrated daily.
The Corporate Services Coordinator must have completed at minimum a 3-year college-level diploma in business, administration, human resources, or another equivalent program. Holding a degree in higher education at the university level in any of the aforementioned areas of study is considered to be the standard level of education for this position.
Together with the required level of education, work experience involving administrative, HR and/or related project work of at least 2 years’ duration would be expected to achieve the base level of competency to be considered proficient in this position.
Crucial qualifications for this role include proficiency with MS Office programs and other office technologies, excellent written and verbal communication abilities, and research skills. The Corporate Services Coordinator should also have a strategic approach to problem-solving, and possess attributes such as: independence, discretion, high emotional intelligence, initiative, high energy, solutions-focused attitude, be team-oriented, and have an eagerness to learn and be creative. The successful candidate must also be able to make sound decisions in a variety of circumstances, be well-organized and administratively savvy, and be able to realistically balance a number of priorities.
To manage a wide range of tasks, the Corporate Services Coordinator must be able to work independently on projects from inception to completion and occasionally work under pressure. Strong interpersonal skills, conflict-resolution abilities, and the capacity to establish connections with both internal and external stakeholders are characteristics we are seeking within the Corporate Services Coordinator. The successful candidate must be able to work well with people at all organizational levels, including elected officials, union employees, managers, consultants, contractors, community organizations, and the general public.
The successful candidate must have a valid driver’s license and provide a clear driver’s abstract, as well as a satisfactory conduct certificate from the RCMP, and a satisfactory Provincial Court check.
